Author: Productive Partnerships in Agriculture

Description:

The World Bank project page about the PNG Productive Partnerships in Agriculture contains the following abstract:
The development objective of the Productive Partnerships in Agriculture Project for Papua New Guinea is to improve the livelihoods of smallholder cocoa and coffee producers through the improvement of the performance and the sustainability of value chains in cocoa-and coffee-producing areas. There are three components to the project. The first component of the project is institutional strengthening and industry coordination. The objective of this component will be to improve the performance of sector institutions and to enhance industry coordination in the coffee and cocoa sectors. Existing stakeholder platforms for industry coordination will be consolidated to address short- and long-term issues such as sector governance, skills development in the industry, improvement in extension services, industry strategy on threats to quality and quality promotion, information within the industry, market development and crop diversification. The second component of the project is productive partnerships. The objective of this component will be to increase the integration of smallholder producers in performing and remunerative value chains, by developing and implementing productive alliances between smallholders and the private sector aiming at improving market linkages in the project areas. The third component of the project is market access infrastructure. The objective of this component will be to improve market access for smallholder cocoa and coffee growers in the areas targeted under the project. See here for further World Bank project pages about PPAP.
