This year's Fair Trade Fortnight will be Fairly Funny

Display Date: 4/26/13

Fairtrade ANZ's annual and biggest awareness raising campaign Fair Trade Fortnight will be held from 4th–19th May. The theme for this year’s event is “Buy Fairtrade and Good Things Will Happen”. During these two weeks, Fairtrade supporters throughout New Zealand and Australia will organize community-based events such as coffee breaks, forums, and meetings to highlight the importance of fair trading systems inclusive of producers and workers in developing countries.

Its launch event “Fairly Funny” will be held at Rangatira at Q Theatre this coming 3rd May at noon in Auckland. Hosts New Zealand comedians Michele A’Court and Jeremy Elwood will share the story of how Fairtrade producers gave them a new perspective on life and happiness. The husband and wife visited Fairtrade Certified Neknasi Coffee Growers Cooperative Society in Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea, and stayed in the villages of Kasin and Wasin in the mountains outside of Lae in October last year.
