Regional Workshop on Pro-poor leasehold Forestry

Honorable Forest and Soil Conservation Minister Mr. Mahesh Acharya has praised Leasehold Forestry Programme as an anti poverty movement in Nepal. He has also mentioned that the programme is being very better inclusion sectors in the forestry sector. 

Similarly, more women have also been involved in this programme, Women are so encouraging and better managing the forests. 

At the same time, Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi, Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation and Mr. Jaya Mukunda Khanal, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Development have also addressed the workshop at inagural session and mentioned very effective for poverty alleviation through forest and poeple interaction. Both Secretary have encouraged to continue and committed to continue the programme through the ministry. 

Both secretary thanked to the donor and all contributors in the Leashold Forestry and Livestock Programme for making success until now. They also granted thanks to the local users too. 

The workshop is being now running at Yak and Yeti Hotel from 11 to 13 June, organized by Government of Nepal, FINNISH Government, IFAD and FAO. 

The workshop is planning to share 23 years' experience in leasehold forestry and technically managing by TA to LFLP and Department of Forests. 

About 200 participants are here for constructive discussions.
