This is one of those days when seeds ideas met the fertile soil for growing and giving fruits.  Time when learning and innovations take consistency, becoming planned actions to take on.

It’s with great pleasure that IFAD Nepal, the Leasehold Forestry and Livestock Programme (LFLP), the Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF)  abd  PROCASUR Corporation would like to announce the award of 2 Innovation Plans designed during the Learning Route (LR) “Women Empowerment, New Businesses and Sustainable Natural Resource Management in Nepal”, held between September the 13th and 21st 2013.

These winners are:

PTCRRMP and SPEnDP IFAD-supported projects from Sri Lanka.

Title of the Plan: Community Co-operative & Private Partnership (CCPP) Approach for Women Enterprise DevelopmentAvailable here: http://www.slideshare.net/ahalpern2/community-co-ooperative-private-partnership-ccpp

The Innovation Plans were jointly elaborated by project teams participating into the LR, with the aim of adapting successful practices and innovations observed in the field to their own context, with the final objective to improve local livelihoods.

In the case of Nepal, the Banana Farming and Utilization of its Products Plan intends to enhance income-generating activities at Co-operative level by promoting the diversification of products available from bananas (both fruits and waste). The collaboration between NACCF and the SFDB would ensure the establishment of a PPP with great potential for the improvement of rural people’s access to market.

In Sri Lanka, the Innovation Plan proposes an innovative strategy to target poor femele entrepreneurs affected by Tsunami, by strengthening them into a newtork and providing them with opportunities to further their professional skills and access to new markets.

Twenty-one participants from Asian and African countries joined the LR, sharing knowledge and experiences with their host communities. They all contributed to create a fertile environment for knowledge to be shared and ideas to grow. All their ideas have great potential to blossom!!

Congratulations to all that participated with their ideas in the Contest! For more information on the other Innovation Plans and the Learning Route, please visit. www.asia.procasur.org and follow us on www.facebook.com/procasur.asia
