E-commerce and digital financing as tools for poverty reduction: The case of Alibaba in China

IFAD Headquarters, Rome
Daniela Marra

Join us for an interactive discussion with representatives from Ant Financial, an affiliate of Alibaba Group in China, to learn about how their "integrated model of e-commerce & digital financing" is contributing to inclusive growth and poverty reduction in China.

How does this model concretely work? Is China's experience replicable in other countries, and if so what are the necessary conditions or the possible limiting factors? What is the experience of IFAD China in partnering with Ant Financial/Alibaba, and what are the possible applications of the Alibaba's model in IFAD- and other donors-financed projects?

The event will be webcasted.

Interested partners in China can follow the event through video-conference at the IFAD Country Office in Beijing (please, contact Ms Han Lei - l.han@ifad.org).

Staff from FAO and WFP, and students from the MSc in Development from Rome 3 University in Rome are invited to attend.

External participants that wish to connect via videoconference, please contact Ms Daniela Marra (d.marra@ifad.org).

Coffee will be offered 15 minutes before the event.
