Pushing the Agriculture Agenda Forward - COSOP Review Workshop 2015
Phnom Penh 12th – 13th February 2015 – More than 60 practitioners from different line ministries met with development partners to review the progress of the Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP). The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) jointly hosted the workshop with the Ministry of Economic and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and other development partners. The Country Strategic Opportunities Programme for the period 2013-2018 aligns IFAD’s investment strategy with Government policy priorities for poverty reduction and agricultural development. It has three strategic objectives: helping poor farmers gain better access to markets, building resilience to climate change and strengthening the provision of services to farmers. Through this COSOP event IFAD, the Government and development partners reviewed implementation progress to of the COSOP and seeked means of strengthening partnerships and improve effectiveness of development assistance for Cambodian farmers in the future. An action plan for the year 2015 was developed to that effect with project teams, farmer organisations and ongoing IFAD grants. The ultimate objective is to support Cambodia efforts to develop a performing agriculture, feeding the country and exporting its surplus for the benefit of the farmers and the country.
