Vegetable has been a part of Cambodia farming for a long time and is very common in Khmer cuisine and dishes. Domestic supply of vegetable (0.42 million tons) is highly seasonal and insufficient for domestic consumption. Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, and Kampot are the top five vegetable-‐producing provinces, which accounted for 57 per cent of total cultivated areas in
2014. More than 56 per cent of the demand is filled by imports that are mainly from Vietnam through informal channels. The study explains constraints faced by vegetable smallholder farmers and those preventing non-vegetable farmers from producing vegetable. The risks of these constraints are also discussed.
