Increasing Microfinance options to Vidarbha Farmers

An interactive meeting of Implementing Agencies of CAIM Project and NABFINS was organized by the Project Management Unit of CAIM project on 06/03/2013 at Amravati. The purpose of the meeting was to create a dialogue between the IAs and NABFINS. NABARD Financial Services Limited, [NABFINS] is a subsidiary of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) with equity participation from NABARD, Government of Karnataka, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Dhanalakshmi Bank and Federal Bank. It is a non-deposit taking NBFC registered with the Reserve Bank of India and and recently started working in Maharshtra. The main objectives of the Company are: - to provide financial services in two broad areas of agriculture and microfinance. - It provides credit and other facilities for promotion, expansion, commercialization and modernization of agriculture and allied activities. Whereas IAs are involved in capacity building of the community based institutions in 64 subproject areas of CAIM Project. Making microfinance linkages of these community based institutions is one of the major areas for their capacity building. Meeting was attended by the representatives of IAs & PMU. From NABFINS Mr. CP Mohan- GM, Mr. Uday Nankar- District Manager & Mr. Kirti Kumar – District Manager was present in the meeting. As an outcome project is expecting to provide better microfinanceoptions to the farmers of Vidarbha.
