Display Date: 5/27/17

Climate Adaptation and Livelihood Protection (CALIP), a supplementary project of Haor Infrastructure Livelihood Improvement Project (HILIP), has been working for developing a community based early flash flood warning system (FFEWS) in the Sylhet Basin.  Supported by International Fund for Agricultural Development- IFAD, the project is being implementing by Local Government Engineering Department-LGED.  Under this project Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC, Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Institute of Water Modeling (IWM) and Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) are working together to develop a dedicated early flash flood forecasting system which will warn farmers at least three days earlier the disaster hit the region.  The project already developed a system which is in experimental stage.  Hopefully it will be operational by 2019.
