Urban Plantation Practices at Kathmandu, Nepal: Forest and Environment Minister Launched urban trail plantation
For carbon offset and to be adapted in the urban, the urban plantation is necessary and the plantation at Kathmandu as a piloting has recently been launched by jointly Division Forest Office and Adaptations for Smallholders in Hilly Areas (ASHA) Project Support Uni, Hattisar Kathmandu. The lesson of tall plant plantation has been a successful model for urban adaptation and mitigation. Honorable Forest and Environment Minister Mr. Shakti Bahadur Basnet launched the urban pedestrian train plantation for greenery activities.
Climate resilient land management in ASHA project: Rolpa
The practices of land management has been implemented in Rolpa district; after management, the land erosion has been controlled and supported to sustainable production of agriculture product to support livelihood generation. It is considered the practice is climate resilient.
Flexi Bio-Gas Installed in Nepal and reduced carbon emissions: a good lesson learnt
Six flexi bio gas was installed in Nepal on 19th Dec. 2016 and being in operation from Feb 2018. All are in operation and producing the gas regularly. Gas producing from one bio gas is being enough for one day (cooking in morning and evening and tea of day) of 5-6 family members. It has reduced the fire wood consumption and smoke hand. Farmers are happy and encouraged easy to handle and operate. It is piloted now and date are being recorded. Preliminary records show the positive impact in the community.
IFAD-Philippines Gender Network (IPGN)
A network of gender focals from IFAD-Assisted projects, cso, implementing agencies in the Philippines created mainly to provide a forum where gender focal persons (GFPs) to discuss and analyze gender issues and formulate recommendations; • create a venue for gender sharing among peers and learning from gender experts and resource persons, listen to rural voices from the field to learn from their experiences and establish a support network group on gender to help each other in mainstreaming gender equality in IFAD-assisted projects.
Abaiang Atoll: Building on Organic Traditions
This short documentary shows how the remote Island of Abaiang in Kiribati is moving towards being a fully organic island. It shows how villagers value age old traditional farming practices that have been handed down from one generation to the next and how these very practices combined with community driven and participatory organic certification can lead to niche market opportunities. This project is supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD), Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the Pacific Organic and Ethical Trade Community (POETCom)
